The 29'er will be provided by Ovington Boats Ltd. in cooperation with Børresen Boats, Denmark.

This will be the third time the 29ers have been used for the two girl and two boy discipline at the championships.

The 29er lends itself to today’s Youth being a modern, fast, exiting and challenging boat. It is very appropriate that the boat to be ‘seen’ sailing in the 21st century is being used at the world’s premier youth sailing event . Proof that it is suitable for both sexes is in the results on the world stage. Over the past 4 years the World Championship has been won by female helms twice and male helms twice. And, it is not just the Youth that get to play, adults get a look in as well giving the younger competitors a lesson in experience – although it is often the other way round!

The 29er like its big sister the 49er is pure skiff, fully battened Mylar sails with a self-tacking jib, supported on a composite-tipped mast that gives the ultimate in gust response and acceleration. Add the asymmetric spinnaker into the equation and sailors discover the 29er is pure dynamite downwind. Other design features include a mainsail cuff to increase sail efficiency, a ram vang, safety foot/grab rails and an enclosed transom.

The 29er provides sparkling performance at an affordable price, for crews between 110 - 135 kg. Needless to say, the exceptional build quality of Ovington Boats comes as standard.
